It's time for me to drop the fuel tank on my Westy to make needed repairs. Not on a hoist - on the street, with ramps. Mine will raise the vehicle six inches. There is about a foot of clearance under the van. Is that enough combined height to drop the tank down and wiggle it out? Archive postings mention the use of a milk crate in the lowering process so I suspect there has to be a fair amount of room under there to do this job properly. I'm trying to anticipate/avoid the irritation of jamming the fuel tank between frame and tarmac. Esteemed list - shade tree division - how high do I need to jack the car? Many thanks as always.
