I just measured the O-ring recess in a rear heater valve body and the
thickness of a used O-ring.  With that information in hand, if I needed to
order one, I would ask for a 25mm X 20mm X 3mm rectangular cross-section
O-ring.  Good luck in finding that size in less than 1000 piece lots.  Sounds
like the VW dealer will be seeing you walk through their door.
