I found a 1/33 scale model Samba at the Bay (Hudson's Bay >Department Store for you non-Canucks) yesterday for $2.99 ! It's the same as >the one on the cover of the new Volkswagen Camper & Commercial mag I was >speaking of yesterday. What a coincidence. Just cruising through the Bay >yesterday and in a pile of model cars displayed in the aisle I was cruisein' >down there was this nice red Samba. Whoa ! Stop and have a look see. Say's >RUFF N' TUFF Power Racer made by Maisto with pull back action, same as the >models featured in issue 5 of VWC&C. Surprise ! So I look around and it's >the only one. Take it to the counter 'cauz I just gotta have it and the S.O >is freakin' and the salesmiss rings it up at $2.99 ! It's on sale to boot ! >Well, that's about $.50 in US dollars so what a bargain ! Lucky me ! Now if >I can just find a real life size Tristar for the same kinda bargain price >I'll be havin' a Merry Christmas. Well, I keep an eye out for VW van toys & models, but apart from Hot Wheels Matchbox, this has been a bust. We get Maisto cars here, but the VW vans are not being offered. Cost of these Maistos is about $12.00. I'm even advertising for them, but so far only one dreamer with a tin Split for which he wanted "collectables" price. I'm not going to get into that sort of thing. -- Andrew Grebneff 165 EvansSt, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Ph: 0064 (3) 473-8863 fax: 0064 (3) 479-7527 1986 Toyota Corolla 1.8DX CE80 diesel sedan 1989 Toyota Corolla 1.8DX CE96 diesel van 1989 Toyota Corona 2.0D Select CT170 diesel sedan 1992 Toyota Estima Lucida 2.2 turbodiesel MPV (=narrow "Previa") 1984 VW Caravelle GL (to be fitted with 260hp Subaru SVX flat-6 & Porsche G50 trans) Seashell, Macintosh, VW & Toyota van nut Friends don't let friends do Windows
