Subject:Power Window Trouble
From:Joel Cort
Date:Sun, 16 Dec 2001 14:22:52 -0800

Hi

Lucky me I've got the GL (Grand Luxe) with the power windows. The
windows are nice but I wished that there was a manual crank insert to
run it when it goes cafloouey.
The other morning I wasn't paying attention and my windows were iced
up. When I tried to open the driver's side by pressing the little
toggle switch the passenger side freed itself but the drivers
side wouldn't budge and I heard a big "Snap" in the door.
BY the afternoon it had warmed up and thawed and the window went up
and down but with a crunchy grindy sound. It did not move very
quickly nor would it come all the way back up.
I opened up the door pannel and was able by pushing up on the window
to get the motor to bring it up.

My question to the list is: Can the funky cables that run the window
up and down be repaired and tightened up or do I have to get the
entire new mechanism. The motor appear OK and runs up and down.
Just the cabling does not work right.

Thanks in advance,

Joel Cort
