My 84 sometimes gets water in the floor on the passanger side after a hard rain.
I assumed it was from an air vent?

Me too. My van is an 83gl. It appears to be coming from somewhere above
the steering column. Water shows up after any rain. Sometimes the entire
carpet on the driver's side is saturated. I haven't actually seen any
water flowing yet. No idea where it is coming in.
