I'm having trouble starting my '89 vanagon. I have to crank the engine over and over until it sputters and starts. This happens whether the car is hot or cold. There is also a strong seem of gas present after it starts. Once started it idles well when cold, but after the engine heats up (about 3 to 5 min of running) the engine gets rough at idle and stumble when I take off from a stop. At RPM's above 2000, it seem to run normally. I've had the plugs, wires, dist cap and hall sender replaced to try to get this fixed--no luck!! Any ideas on what's going on here? Also, does anyone know of a good vanagon specialist in the Seattle area? Thanks! Egill Ovenell
