Subject:generations: 1.6 cars per year
From:Dan Snow

Here's my (sick) history:

1970 Volkswagen Beetle (free from grandpa)
1971 Datsun 240Z (Big, thirsty Webers -- 6mpg)
1975 Datsun 280Z (great car)
1985 Volkswagen GTI (sister totalled)
1982 Mazda 626 (smoked)
1976 FIAT 124 Spider (SMOKED)
1985 Audi 5000S St. Wgn. (got t-boned by a dumb teenager)
1974 Porsche 914 1.8 (WHY DID I SELL THIS CAR?)
1985 Audi 5000CS Turbo (fast, OIL LEAKER)
1992 Chevrolet Cavalier (hated every second, but it was free)
1986.5 Toyota Supra (wife overheated it in AZ, warped head, ouch)
1989 Geo Metro (bought for $300, an underrated car)
1992 Mazda 626 (honest transportation)
1988 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 (ex- Utah Highway Patrol, un-diesel Vanagon
performance)
1988 Toyota MR2 (fun)
1994 Mazda Protege (good car)
1988 Mazda 323 GTX (lock the diffs, and let's go rallying)
1992 Mercury Grand Marquis (expecting baby, wanted to win in accidents)
1992 Honda Accord Wagon (165,000 and counting, uses NO oil)
1994 Mazda Protege (fun, good car)
1982 Volkswagen Vanagon Deisel (YEAH, baby)

Lets' see, I'm 30. 30 minus 17 when I got the Bug = 13. 21 cars in 13 years.
That's 1.6 cars per year. Anyone top that? (If you can, let's throw in
mopeds and recalculate).

Moral of the story: If you like a new car, wait 10 years and it will be
cheap enough to afford as a disposable car (240z, 914, Supra, Audi turbo,
MR2, Mustang, Vanagon....)
