My advice is to not bother retrofitting new bumpers or airbags.
Help ensure you don't get into a crash by:

Keep within the speed limit (not difficult in our vans)
Never drive while intoxicated
Never drive uninsured
Always wear your seat belt
Take a defensive driving course
Check/Maintain your brakes regularly
Check your tires and tire pressures regularly
