What! Too much oil pressure at idle? That pressure is normal for those engines. The tolerances are tighter and the oil pump larger than the Vanagon engine. When these engines used solid lifters normal oil pressure at hi speed was around 90 psi. It shows about 25-30# of pressure at idle. I've got about 5k miles on the motor. Before I put the motor in the bus, I installed a windage tray between the block and oil pan. In order to install it, I had to remove the pickup tube for the oil pump, fit the windage tray, and reinstall the pickup tube. Would over-tightening the oil pump pickup tube slightly cause the high oil pressure, or is there something else I should look at? Sean B.
