I was sifting the list messages and listening to the NPR piece last night while half-monitoring the Olympics in the other room when my wife freaks out and says "come look -- come look!" and it was a VW ad about their designers and engineers continually tweaking their products and it had these cool high-tech-looking graphics of Beetles morphing through evolutions of the designs, then of vans, then Rabbits to Golfs, etc. I missed the Vanagon part, but the important point is that my wife is now getting excited by the mere mention of Vanagons. BTW, we passed a mid-to-late 80s Vanagon for sale in our travels this weekend, sitting in a yard in Lincolnville in Midcoast Maine with icicles hanging from the bumpers. Not a daily driver (probably) and maybe cheap, though it looked to be in good shape. Anyone interested could p-mail me and I'll tell you how to find it.
