Subject:Re: Back on the list - Sliding door won't latch
From:Mark Mages

The reply that I did receive, was to make sure that
the rear latching mechanism (on the door, not the van)
was attached securely. His (Matthew Pollard -
THANKS!) was loose, and tightening the screws fixed
his problem.

This was not my problem, but it got me looking in the
right area. I started fiddling with the latch, and
noticed that the bottom part was only flipping up
enough to catch 1/2 of the C shaped top latch.

A good dose of Finish-Line bike degreaser/lubricant
followed with a healthy dose of White lithium grease,
and my door is shutting easily now.

Another thing you might check, if greasing doesn't
help, is that all the springs are attached and
functioning. You might have to take the unit off the
door entirely.... looks like it involves disconnecting
the front of the door (which is what I was about to do
until I thought of just grease)

Good luck

Oh - I'm CC ing the list because I find that too often
problems get posted, but the solutions never do... not
so much on this list, but....

Thanks
Mark
