If you are replacing your clutch, BE SURE to replace the pressure
plate. I had similar problems in a '64 bug, and it turned out to be
the pressure plate. I replaced the clutch cable and clutch plate and
it didn't fix the problem. Then I replaced the pressure plate and the
"slipping" with the clutch pedal pressed all the way in stopped.
