Hi Walter, I didn't remove my transmission. I just replaced the pan gasket, the two 2nd gear brake band piston seals, and two brake band cover O-rings. I bought the new circlip at my local VW dealer and replaced it as a precaution. It probably wasn't necessary. Sounds like maybe you have a kit for a complete transmission overhaul... Regards, Alan
