When I started the Mercedes thread, my intention was simply to find a way to carry a couple extra gallons for those unexpected windy days in Wyoming when you misjudge and your consumption goes through the roof and you're sweating bullets wondering if you'll make it to Little America or not. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't plan to make regular use of the extra, i.e. extending range--I'd rather just pull into the station and fill up. I go 200 miles, and stop whether I need it or not, but there have been days when 175 seemed impossible due to headwinds, etc., and I'm just trying to avoid a call to AAA. That's it. bmc :) "Faith will move mountains, but you'd better bring a shovel...." > From: Jere Hawn <jbrschawn@EARTHLINK.NET> > Reply-To: Jere Hawn <jbrschawn@EARTHLINK.NET> > Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2002 22:46:10 -0800 > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Cheap emergency gas can for INSIDE your van (Was: Mercedes gas > can for spare tire) > > Wasn't the original thought on this thread of coming up with ways to reduce > the number of gas stop or increase the distance between them?
