I should have mentioned that I removed the switches
from the dash and they look absolutely brand new.
Nothing melted or disfigured.

Could be rust or some such, but most likely it has melted back there
as there is too much current on high for the plastic to handle. Easy
to take out and have a look-see.  Malcolm
