Subject:Re: Rear hatch struts revisted. Why do they fail?

Just because something works does not make it an ideal solution. I'm just
trying to learn and understand REAL facts. Not mythology about what works or
does not. I'm sure that VW parts shop owners who spend their whole lives
selling parts know more about them than a French fry short order cook.

There are a lot of creative solutions coming from this list, but I am sure
there must be a rhyme and reason for why things were designed the way they
were. Being curious by nature, I just like to know.

So please don't bash me too hard with your wit, y'all, when I am doing is
asking a serious question.

One thing I know for sure about this list is that opinions are many and when
all the dust settles usually a wise person can determine which is truth and
which is myth.

Maybe the PO was lying but I was told the struts were new. Maybe one was
just defective and it really does not matter. Maybe my brain is defective
for wanting to know.
