Mark. My favorite is a group 41 battery. Most have around 650 cca and they were used on most all vw diesels. Even with a battery the same height I deemed it a good idea to inseret a piece of plastic over the battery so the lid would not short out. The height of the batter appears to be a problem as it is 7 & 13/16 to the top of the top terminal. From my measurements the steel compartment lid is just about at that height meaning their could be contact. Anyone done this? I foresee I might hole saw out two circles in the lid where the terminals are to avoid any contact with the lid. The carpet should cover the holes okay. Any feedback on anyone who has installed an Optima and thier solutions to this height problem is appreciated. Mark Magee 90 Carat 79K Kemah TX USA John 14:6
