Based on my experience, that same Westy would go for about $2,000 around here if it was running and in good shape. (especially if all the original equipment is there) I have seen early 70's go for $5,000 in really good condition but with high miles (100k+) Goofy market here in Santa Barbara, though. (A clean 2WD late model Westy Vanagon will routinely fetch in excess of $12,000, 7 passenger Vanagons about $5,000 to $7,500) Brent >From: joseph Trussell <joetruss@HOTMAIL.COM> >Reply-To: joseph Trussell <joetruss@HOTMAIL.COM> >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Subject: Value of a '66 Westy? >Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 13:53:46 -0700 > >Hi List, > >This isn't really Vanagon-related I reckon, but I'm not sure where to check >on this...I found a '66 Westfalia Poptop in a guy's front yard, it's got >some rocker rust and surface rust but is pretty much all original...And it >needs a new generator, which the guy has but hasn't installed, and it needs >brake work, but he claims that if the new generator was in, it would start >right up and drive away..it has a 1500 motor converted to 12v, and the >interior is in great shape.
