I recently ordered a ladder with tire mount made specifically for the vanagon. It is well made and I am highly recommending it for anyone who wants to add a rear tire mount. The deal went smoothly and I received it as promised. See for yourself at: http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2a/rack/vanagonrack.htm -Loretta 87 Syncro 90 GL 82 Westy
