Bob, Where I've found a bit of lubricant to be the most beneficial is in the cup at the end of the linkage. If your shifting improves dramatically after hitting a puddle, this is where you need lubricant. If you're gonna do the job, you might as well catch all of the locations, doncha think?? It is easy with the tank removed-I haven't tried to do it with the tank in-it looks difficult. You will be amazed how your shifting improves by greasing this bushing. Sounds dry as the Sahara in there. Can I re-grease the ball joint on the stick shift where it goes through the floor without disassembling the shift linkage and mechanism and therefore having to readjust the shift linkage? Can I just pour some oil down there instead of using the grease? I works great when it rains, telling me that water sprays up and "lubes" it. I think readjusting the linkage is beyond what I have time or inclination for now. Paying someone isn't my preference either. Thanks, Steve 84 Westy 4spdGet more from the Web.
