This might not be your exact fix but this is what I did.
#1. Got a magnetic base antennae.
#2. Got a steel cover plate for a 4x4" electrical box.
#3. Glued the steel cover plate to the floor in my luggage carrier area
of my Westy.
The antenna just rolls around in the carrier until I set it on the steel
plate.
