Looking on the web I see the colgan for my year appears to cover the bumper.
How well would this fit if it went over the bumper? I sure wouldn't want to
buy one that would start flapping.

I have the Colgan Bra on my 87 Westy, and the factory VW bra on my 85

I find that the Colgan bra is of a heavier duty conctruction than the VW
unit and also has a few more restraning hooks on the the side to keep it
tight---

And at the advertised price of $89.00 this is a good deal--the best I've
seen---
