welding thin walled steel is a PIA. I go down that road more often that
i'd like it seems.... it would probably be cheaper to get some spun
aluminum gas tanks that are about 5" diameter and put them under the bus
and the pump the gas from them into the real tank when needed. That or
go to the gas station more often.
