For those of you who haven't ever been there, check out www.crutchfield.com

They have one of the most comprehensive collections of car stereo stuff
anywhere.  You put in the year/make/model of your car, and the site will
tell you what fits, and whether it goes in the stock holes, or requires
minor or major modifications.  They also send wiring harnesses/stereo
mounts/etc. as needed for your car, and terrific instructions for
do-it-yourselfers.  On the phone I have always had great experiences with
their personnel being knowledgeable and helpful.

Anyway, lots of choices for speakers that fit the vanagon, from bazookas to
blaupunkts.
