the rear sofabed and fold fwd middle seat (ie, weekender interior) was an
option on all '85-'91 vanagons. it has nothing to do w/ being a GL.
i have owned a '87 GL that had a standard non weekender interior, as well as
owned a '85 Non-GL that had a weekender interior..   all stock.
 GL is just a trim line..  most GL's had the velour interior.
