Some people get highly annoyed if a reply or a counter argument is sent to
the list only, since they may miss it or they feel like they're being
avoided.  Then they turn beet-red and flame with hateful emails.  So, to
keep it safe, I 'reply to all'.

I use filtering to direct the list's email to one folder, and emails sent
directly to me to another.
