It seems that my alternator is just sitting in place, the upper bolt is
missing. Good grief, I must be one lucky owner that my battery charges and
the belt is still intact.

What are the odds that anyone here knows what size bolt this is? Does
anyone have that CD with all the parts listed that might show the length
and pitch of this bolt? Its an 81 Air-cooled.

I have a long bolt shoved in there, but its not metric, and its too long.
I have lots of standard thread bolts laying around, but few metric ones to
experiment with, so I thought I might ask the impossible before pulling
the alternator to find the thread pitch.
