It is probably a water pump leak. Try to look up in there with a flashlight
and see if you can trace back the leak. I have new German (Geba) water
pumps for $50 if you need one.

Subject: Leaking thermostat housing

Hi List,

I just went outside on this lovely Colorado morning to have a cup of coffee
and marvel at my '85 Vanagon GL, and noticed a very small antifreeze
puddle...It's leaking around the thermostat housing/waterpump seam, blowing
down onto the oil filter.

Is this a sign of a bad waterpump or what? Any ideas are greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe T.
'85 GL
