<P>your logic makes sense to me. i am not a professional mechanic, just a hobby on my van. i went with swapping sides and inny to outty based on information from a couple of sources.&nbsp; maybe swapping sides is not necessary, but i did it anyways and can't say it has hurt and can't say it helped.&nbsp; i was just relaying my experience with you.&nbsp; maybe someone else on the list can elaborate on this.</P>
<P>good luck!</P>

<DIV></DIV>&gt;Ok, so the cv is still turning the same direction isn't it? Don't see
<DIV></DIV>&gt;how this does anything because the angle is the same from the tranny to
<DIV></DIV>&gt;the wheel. (parallelogram working here)
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Now swapping sides, inner to inner, would make them go the other
<DIV></DIV>&gt;direction. That would be roughly the same as turn one around on the
<DIV></DIV>&gt;same side.

<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; matthew,
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; i did this to my 90 gl when replacing my engine 15,000 miles ago. i put
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; inner to outer on opposite sides. when i pulled the cv's apart i had them
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; power cleaned, i noticed slight wear where the balls were riding, but
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; nothing major. so i repacked them(what a job that was!) and swapped sides
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; and haven't had a problem. the mechanics i inquired with about this job,
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; suggested that i did swap them opposite sides and inny to outty. they said
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; that would allow the balls to ride on a new surface thus significantly
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; extending the life of the cv's. i am sure this goes with out saying but, i
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; would replace any boots that look worn as this is what keeps the dirt out
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; that causes wear on the joints.
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; good luck!
