Visit your local police department and talk to the Chief or Sheriff. Remind
them that you LIVE there and am tired of being hassled. Make it clear that
you have been checked several times and the cops should know the vehicle by
now. Be nice and very polite but mention that you will pursue this through
regular channels - right up his chain of command. You'll get them off of
your back. Call the mayor... He needs your vote.

Be nice though.
