Ditto: Aren't they great to deal with? Just wish they carried AC
parts. Spent the whole day getting the necessary parts, seals, oils
etc to retrofit my 87 and 91 vanagons. Soon as I get the job done
successfully I'll post to the list the required parts, and vendors.

Subject: Volks Cafe and excellent service---

I just got done replacing my front rotor's, bearings, races, and
pads-----on my 87 Westy----
I noticed a taxi cab squeal out of the front brakes----- when applied---

The pads were OEM pads, and just weren't right----

I e-mailed the folks at the cafe--and peter, the owner , got back to me,
and mentioned that he has had a few complaints of the same nature----

So in his reply, he is sending me another set of pads NC to replace the
squeaky one's---nice service----no phone calls, no poor answer's, no
evasive tactics---

I then did my rear shoes and cut the drums----but I made a big
mistake---I got the shoes from NAPA-----

I installed them, and as I was looking at the old shoes, and the new
ones--there was something wrong----

The new shoes, were rebuilt backwards--

Backwards by having the short lining on the front shoe, and the long
lining on the emergency brake shoe side----

So I contacted the Volks Cafe----and they verified my thoughts---and I
ordered the correct shoes, as well as new drums----

The 2 drums cost me less than one drum I could get locally---and they
are OEM---

Nice folks, real good people to do business with, and I will do more
purchasing of parts from them, just for the simple reason, they follow
through with what they promise---real good PR---

And they notify yo when the parts have left their facility, with a UPS
tracking number, so you know when to expect the parts----

Just my observations---

Later,
