Not to be a enviro-Nazi, but technically, you should not rise "bio-suds" directly into a stream or lake. It should be done in a bucket and then emptied into a hole in the ground away from the water source. This allows the microbes in the ground to break down the phosphates and other sudsing components of the detergent. -Brent ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Kasper" <dragonlist@IPMTS.UCSC.EDU> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Thursday, May 23, 2002 9:10 AM Subject: Re: Living in a van > yeah, that's how we usually do it...but it's a good idea to keep in mind > in case of emergency or when you're travelling in places that don't have > laundromats. use biodegradable washing powder and you can even rinse > clothes in a stream... > > bill > > > On Thursday, May 23, 2002, at 08:45 , Stan Wilder wrote: > > > Say Bill .......... every town laundromat, apartment house and many > > campgrounds have these things called coin operated washing machines.
