I had this problem as well--it was hard to get it into first (even using
the great second-to-first slide technique), and eventually became hard
to get into reverse, etc. In my case, the clutch wasn't disengaging all
the way due to leaky clutch hydraulics. I believe there's also a pump
involved in the hydraulic system that has been known to go bad...
