Mine broke a long time ago, and here is the crappy home-made fix I did.  I
got a solid brass hinge, just a little 1-1/2" hardware store type, and
screwed it onto the pedal and floor.  I had to drill the floor, if I remember
correctly, to get thru the rivets.  Did this 5 years ago, no problems.  Isn't
very pretty, but with enough dirt on it you can't even see it.
