Thats funny because my 85' has 8000 on it and has been doing the same thing the past couple of days. Again it appears nothing else is wrong with it. If and when you figure out whats up with it let me know. I was going to post the question today also but decided until I watched it a little more to see some sort of pattern. have fun, Tracy 85' GL "Ripple" DABredesen <DABredesen@COX.NET> wrote: Dear Vanagon Owners: Situation: Checked the coolant level on the '91 over the weekend (while all was cool), the coolant was at the Minimum Level. Drove the '91 roughly 20 miles today; checked the coolant level again (after all was cool) and there was absolutely no coolant in the plastic container. No runs, no drips, no errors in the driveway to indicate I lost any after the 20 mile excursion. Not sure if I lost any during the short trip, BUT, no indicator lights came on to indicate an overheating problem. This afternoon, I added approximately 1/2 quart of coolant to bring the level back to Minimum level. Will drive it again this evening to check things out. Background: Rebuilt engine with approximately 8000 miles on it. New water pump installed in March '02. Any insight on proper coolant levels would be most appreciated. Does one think I have a potential problem here or just one of those daily premaintenance checks. She's headed west in a few short days. I'd obviously rather deal with a problem before it she leaves.
