The 1.8t block is the same as all the rest of the I4 VW engines, ... I
think.  I have seen these motors in Sciroccos and Mk2 Golfs so I know it is
possible to adapt into older platforms.  The obvious issues I could think of
would be deck height after install and the necessary wiring/plumbing
required.
