Either the manual or the camper supplement for my '86 said that I should only use "dry shampoo". Now, I wasn't going to use REAL poo, but neither do I like the idea of dry poo, sham or real. So, I spot tested with my Bissell, and it seems to do OK. Just don't put too much cleaner concentrate in, and don't linger in one spot, so the seat won't get soaked... which is probably one of the reasons they want you to use dry 'poo. Also, maybe steaming removes the Scotchguard, assuming there was any left after 15 years. -Simon '86 GL Westy Syncro mit geblasener vorderer Schlaganfeuchter On Friday, June 21, 2002, at 01:20 AM, Jeff Sibley wrote: > hello list memebers, > > i have decided to clean the interior of my 87 syncro. planned to use my > bissell steam cleaner, very nice machine. however, i looked at the > stock > cleaning solution and the label read that the cleaning solution was to > be > used for only certain auto upholstery types. it said to refer to the > manufacturer's cleanability code tag and only use the product on the > "X" or > "S" coded upholstery, not to be used on the "WS" or "W" type. anyhow, > does > anyone know the code for the late model vanagon upholstery? my seats > are > brown/tan velour type 1987. > thanks much, > jeff > syncro gl >
