If he is stranded, just run a wire from the starter directly to the plus terminal on the battery. What I did was take an aligator clip and run it to the big nut on the starter. Then I ran a jumper cable to the live terminal of the battery, then with the westy in park, and the parking brake on, connect the jumper and the solenoid. The engine will start. Disconnect the wires and drive to Radio Shack and buy the 15 amp relay or maybe your battery will get charged enough to turn the engine over once you drive it for a while. Once I did this when I was at point reyes, which is about 30 minutes north of SF, then I simply drove home over the golden gate bridge, to my house on the peninsula, about an hour away. When I home, I ended up replacing a fuse on the relay that I didn't check before. However, the point is that I made it home. :-) -- Craig On Sun, 23 Jun 2002, Mark Ingalls wrote: > Or maybe a remote starter tool like folks used to use when they did their > own tune-ups MAY at least get the Ruskin's through their trip. > > I've never used one but I believe they do the same thing as the hard start > kit, just the remote starter tool you have to hook up every time you want to > use it.
