Brian, have you searched the archives for coolant bleeding procedures? It sounds like air in the system. I just flushed my system and when adding coolant to the expansion tank it went in reeeeeally slooooowly ...took a clean piece of little hose and blew GENTLY on closed expansion cap to help push fluid in and air out-- out the open front radiator bleeder valve. Have you been opening that valve to allow air to escape? There are several good methods of dealing with getting coolant in and out in the archives; I recently used the directions Doktor Tim gave Dec 2001 http://gerry.vanagon.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A2=ind0112C&L=vanagon&P=R10730 (that should link right to in archive) Check that out and then see how your method compares. You might see where you missed something. If not, then maybe someone can speak to the heads question. --Patrice 85GL VanaBlue ---------- > From: Brian Gillespie <gillespie_b@MSN.COM> > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Cooling system > Date: Saturday, June 22, 2002 12:04 PM > > I bought an 86 Vanagon last Sept. and have been learning about cooling > systems.
