My California shaped lock units definitely use a rotary motor with a stepped shaft that carries a worm gear which drives the whole assembly. Gotta be careful when putting them back together to get the motor spinning the right direction!!!! ---------- From: MIME :andrew.grebneff@STONEBOW.OTAGO.AC.NZ[SMTP:MIME :andrew.grebneff@STONEBOW.OTAGO.AC.NZ] Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 4:50 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: questions about electric locks >There are a few things that generally go bonkers with the electro-locks. Electric locks use solenoids (linear motors) rather than rotary motors. -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut
