Anyway, as for the laws of thermodynamics, I guess you would be right.

On the other hand, perhaps we, as a human race, don't know everything, and this
 guy effectively found a process that is quite a bit more efficient than it was
 ever conceived before -- perhaps out of luck, perhaps out of sheer genius. One
 way or another, I'm sure he knows the laws of thermodynamics too...
