On the bug, the fan belt actually turned the fan. On the Vanagon the fan is on the crankshaft, so the belt doesn't effect cooling. Bill --------------------------------- One thing I noticed about aircooleds while working on bugs. If the fan belt is loose or cracked it tends to make the motor run a little hotter. just a thought.
