I laughed too Stan.  I think Chris should buy a Honda (can I say that here?)  I you can't laugh at the pot hole story how can you survive owning a Vangon.
Is a Vanagon a type 2, a T3, or is it a type 25?.  The part numbers all seem to start with 025.  Anyone Know for sure?
