I seem to recall some conversation regarding the gear pairs in the speedo.
"W" gears comes to mind.  All the speedos are essentially the same IIRC and
the cable rotations per mile are adjusted by matching up a pair of gear
wheels.  But that was long ago when Klaus ran Palo Alto Speedo.  Give
paspeedometer.com a tickle and see what you find.
