It is rare for these pumps to have low pressure, they either work or
they don't. Have you replaced the filter? The pump is basically the same
from any air cooled fuel injected VW and also mid-late 80's Ford
Escorts. The actual pressure is determined by the regulator, so any pump
that can operate in the 35+ psi range will work.

Subject: Fuel Pump Substitute Wanted

I have an '89 Syncro Camper with a low fuel pressure,
and I'm in Mexico. I would love to know if this or any
maintenance part were interchangeable with Mexican VW
sold autos (Jetta, Passat, Golf).

After 236,000 miles, parts can be a challenge,
especially with shipping costs coupled with the fact
I'm going to Central America next.

Alternators, Distributor Caps and Rotors are ones
which are interchangeable for some models.

Thanks in advance,
from El Rancho Tortuga
