I know many Vanagon owners don't carry collision insurance, but Comprehensive with Fire and Glass should be carried for just these unknown situations. A tree falling would be covered. Would probably even replace the awning after the deductible was meet. Tree (need part) Went away camping last week in the Adirondacks. A strong little microburst came through and downed 7 trees on my campsite. Unfortunately one fell on my Westy. It took out the luggage rack and bent the van up a bit. I need a replacement white luggage section for my Westy. Anyone have one for sale... I (still) have a Shadyboy awning that was up at the time. It got clipped pretty hard, but just bent itself out of the way and snapped back into place when the tree rolled onto the windshield. Overall the frame held up very well. I was in it at the time and man what a shock.... Lots on noise and glass, as the windshield shattered. Also I know that someone was talking about them chrome windshield filler strip a few weeks back, Is this a dealer only item, or do Ken, Ron, etc carry this strip. Thanks, Graham
