Okay, so my new Westy Syncro was finally ready (in my very poor opinion) ready for the state safety and emissions testing. Maybe I should have looked over things a bit tighter. Sigh. CV boots torn on both front axles. Steering rack boots torn. The CV joints had sprayed their grease all over the front brakes, so that was the first flunking mark. The rear brakes need to be done as well. (Steering rack boots was the 2nd flunk, the rear brakes, the 3rd). One of the high beams was out and one of the tail lights (which I had just looked at a week ago) was out. Two more marks against passing. Idle was too high (well, we all know THAT tune...) Another failing grade... And the kicker. The laws in this state (Virginia) have changed and FOGLIGHTS MUST GO OUT WHEN HIGH BEAMS ARE ENGAGED! So my Projectzwo foglights will have to come off for now until I can tackle the rewiring of the headlights. So...anybody have a nice concept of how to modify the fog light relay circuitry so that it turns OFF when I turn the high beams on? (#$%! snarl spit, hiss.) Just as well they have these inspections or I might have done something foolish like drive the beast across the country...Ooops. Too late.
