I'm getting these numbers with r-134a done with a standard conversion kit (i.e. just hose fittings, gas, and lubricant). When my system was evacuated with R-12, my A/C shop mentioned that he had used propane/butane (ES-12? Or something like it?) based refrigerants with good result. I'm not sure what 406 is but it's probably used for other industrial applications. I've done two R-134a conversions now: one on my acura integra, and my '91 GL. Both are working great. And given the $40 dollars in parts and the labour to evacuate the system, it has really been worth the changeover, especially in this Washington DC heat. wade -----Original Message----- From: Ron McLean [mailto:ronalanmclean@yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, August 11, 2002 9:42 AM To: Wade Shen; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: A/C Performance in '91 GL > I'm getting about 32-39 degree differential from >outside air on fan speed three, and full cold on the >dial with a bottom out temp of about 40F. These numbers are quite interesting, but I am not familiar with the other numbers. What is: ES-12? R-406a? R-12?
