There is only one starter that fits diesel Vanagons. On Vanagons the
starter bolts to the transmission. Changing the model of 4 cyl diesel
engine does not affect it.

Ken at Vanagain had rebuilt ones at a good price a while back. I think
Bus Depot carries them also.
