Do a leak down test. Your symptoms sound similar to what the last waterboxer
I had in the GoldBrick was giving. Compression was fine, but the leak down
test revealed that #3 cylinder wasn't holding compression.

Unfortunately I can't give you a fix. I replaced my engine at that point with
the Tiico.
